Our club was formed in 1970. The mens team added a womens team in 1977.
The team started out competing in the
BlackHawk Tug of War league. The league consists of mens and womens teams in various weight categories. The league competes
in the southern Wisconsin area.
We have won many state titles. Wisconsin State Champions 1978-1985.
The state
competiton was disconntinued for a couple of years. The Badger State games adopted TOW as sport and at this competition the
club enjoyed championships from 1987-1995.
The Wisconsin Amaetur Tug of War Assoc took over the championships for a couple
of years and again the club brought home championships in 1997 and 1998.
On the National level Oregon is the only
club to have competed in the Nationals since 1980.
We have won National Championships in 1983, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989,
1990 all womens weight classes. 1991,1992,1993,1994 again in all womens wt classes.
On the World level the team has
competed in 6 World Championships. They have medaled in 2 of the events.
The world games are held every 4 years. Oregon
won a bronze in 1993 and 2001. The 2001 team was National team comprised of athletes from Mn and WI.
We won a bronze
medal with combined team from WI and MN in the 520 open at the World Championships in South Africa.
Won silver medal nationals in Waukesha WI in 2003.
Competed in Qualifiers for the World Championships Indoor 2004. Two team members won bronze medals with our friends
from MN. Amy Breuscher and Linda Barry did our club proud.
Competed in the outdoor qualifiers for WC outdoor 2004. The team did not qualify to represent the USA but will
compete in the open club competition.
Won silver medal Nationals 2004 520 kilo class.
Competed in the World Championships in Rochester MN. Our team combined with the Swiss and Dutch to win a bronze
medal in the 560k open.
Team is putting together an Under 23 womens team to compete in the first competiton in Cento Italy Sept 2005. Team
competed in the USATOWA qualifiers for the World Games 2005. Team placed 2nd. They are new and are doing a great
job of learning our sport.
